De Franse coureur Johann Zarco heeft gezegevierd in de MotoGP-race tijdens de Australische Grand Prix of Road Motorcycles en behaalde daarmee zijn eerste overwinning in de prestigieuze koningsklasse. De Italiaanse coureur Francesco Bagnaia eindigde als tweede en voegde meer punten toe aan zijn totaalklassement en breidde zijn voorsprong uit tot 27 punten. Vanwege een ongunstige weersvoorspelling werd de race zelf verschoven van zondag naar zaterdag, zoals besloten door de organisatoren.
